Architectural Designer Position

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of a licensed architect, the Architectural Designer will collaborate with a team of architects and designers to support the development of architectural and interior designs from concept through construction. This role involves hands-on design, modeling, drafting, and research across a range of project types and phases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in programming, planning, and conceptual design of projects.

  • Engage in discussions with the Project Manager to determine spatial and functional requirements.

  • Contribute to design development through space planning, renderings, and detail drafting.

  • Produce scaled sketches including floorplans and room layouts.

  • Perform 2D and 3D modeling, visualization, and animation for presentations and documentation.

  • Build physical architectural models using tools like 3D printers and CNC machines.

  • Create high-quality presentation materials including site plans, elevations, renderings, and animations using Revit, Rhinoceros, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), and Lumion.

  • Use visual storytelling to communicate design concepts to clients and stakeholders.

  • Prepare 3D architectural and interior models using Revit.

  • Assist in producing design development drawings and outline specifications.

  • Attend and contribute to project team meetings; present design progress and resolve design issues.

  • Prepare background drawings and coordinate with engineering consultants and other disciplines.

  • Conduct code and zoning research (California Building Code, Title 24, IBC, ADA, etc.) to ensure compliance.

  • Research architectural materials, finishes, and furnishings.

  • Develop construction documents for permit submittals and bidding using Revit and AutoCAD.

  • Provide construction administration support and prepare record/as-built drawings.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Architecture or foreign equivalent.

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficient in architectural design and detailing.

    • Skilled in 2D/3D modeling and rendering using:

      • Revit, Rhino (Rhinoceros), AutoCAD

      • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

      • Lumion

    • Experience with building physical models (3D printing and CNC fabrication).

    • Familiarity with applicable building codes including IBC and ADA.
