The Center for Clinical Sciences Research was a collaborative project designed to provide highly flexible laboratory environments to adapt to the evolving needs of individual researchers. FCA served as Prime Architect, with Foster + Partners as the Design Architect, for this laboratory building at Stanford University School of Medicine.

The four-story building features two identical laboratory wings separated by a landscaped interior courtyard that is open at both ends and to the sky, maximizing daylight while encouraging interaction among researchers. Each typical laboratory floor is organized into three distinct zones: laboratory benches, shared equipment and support areas, and office space.

The modular design accommodates a variety of specialized research programs, including Cancer Research, Applied Human Gene Therapy, Clinical Immunology, and Human Anatomy, allowing departments to evolve without significant renovation.
